Yes, you’ll need a provisional licence (photocard kind) before you can start driving lessons or take your theory test. You can apply online at https://www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence.
You can start taking driving lessons at 17, but you can’t take your practical test until you turn 18.
Lesson prices vary depending on location and instructor. We offer competitive rates at £40 per hour at Arrow Driving School.
Each lesson is tailored to you, but will cover topics such as car controls, manoeuvres, road signs and markings, and safe driving practices. Each lesson will be tailored to your progression and will eventually lead to you being a confident driver who is ready to take their driving test.
The number of lessons varies depending on your learning pace. Some are ready to take their driving test much sooner than others. We can assess your needs and recommend a suitable course structure.
Yes! This is a great way to gain additional experience, but you’ll need a valid provisional licence and be supervised by someone over 25 who has held a full UK licence for at least 4 years.
The computer-based theory test has two parts: a multiple-choice question section and a hazard perception test. We can provide resources to help you prepare.
The practical test assesses your ability to drive safely and confidently in various road conditions. It includes manoeuvres, independent driving, and following instructions from the examiner.
Don’t worry! You can retake the test as soon as you’re ready. We offer post-test feedback and support to help you improve for your next attempt.
